A Rant on Political Correctness

Category: I'm Not that Dad

You all know I like to rant. Just about nothing gets me more riled up than political correct nonsense. And nonsense is just the right word. I took excerpts from a recent radio show, Let’s Talk about Political Correctness, that I had video’d. Though I don’t “do politics,” I can’t help but often speak and write about my disdain for speech codes and the irony of political correctness limiting free speech. You know, rant. My most recent column on this was Diversity, Equality, and Other Four-Letter Words I Disdain. But, this short video will give you a hint at the passion and ire I have towards this subject!

You posted something the other day about political correctness.
My views have no changed since then: political correctness has gone way to far.
It’s actually an infringement on the first amendment (I don’t know if that’s what you were getting at Bruce).

Yes, that is part of what I was getting at @daniel_dinnie:disqus and, yes, I’ve posted a few things recently on this topic…

I may not be American and we don’t have a ‘first amendment’ here, but I understand it’s importance.

The irony of the PC Police is that they INHIBIT free speech by telling us what THEY feel is acceptable to be said!

          • http://daniel-alexander-book.blogspot.com/ Daniel Alexander

It’s strange that no one else is commenting on this.
Why do you think that is?

          • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

Because it’s a video and it takes a bit more time to view; then comment!

            Point well made.

I don’t really observe much of politics locally and internationally. Although some news does get my attention example; A country that decided to test a nuke and or a country with high tech war vessel guarding over a dispute island. hahaha

I heard a lot about America; the land of dream. I wish to be there one day. 🙂

I never cared much about politics until I got older AND had kids. Then, the whole world matters @netster:disqus – I hope you make it to the U.S. because it still is a pretty incredible place!

Pretty sure that “being PC” is just another form of social responsibility (aka: self censorship with the fear that we might offend something by saying or doing something that no one ever said was wrong). In other words, I’m against it.

PC runs amok in this country. Offending someone has become the “worst sin” anyone can commit. It’s dangerous. It muzzles people and restricts their right of speech. Did you hear Dr. Ben Carson’s speech at the National Prayer Breakfast?  He said we need to forget about unanimity of speech and unanimity of thought, what we need
to concentrate on is being respectful to those people with whom we
disagree. Thank for the post Bruce.

@twitter-18965857:disqus – I wish Dr. Ben Carson was our President – he makes SO MUCH SENSE!
