Who hasn’t made a mistake with Social Media? And, whose kid hasn’t hit send a bit too quickly or posted a photo they later regret? This Thursday, May 23 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET, we’re going to chat about these sort of common mistakes we all make and perhaps focus a bit on guiding our kids to at least pause before hitting that dangerous SEND button! We are fortunate to have Social Media whiz John Paul Aguiar as this week’s co-host.

After last week’s wild ride and scavenger hunt about photos, we’re turning to video – specifically mobile, but really all video – this Thursday, May 16th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET, at #DadChat. There’s a FAB new app from Ptch - and it’s FREE for your iPhone! Download and play with it before #DadChat, during, or after. Our topic is how we preserve, capture, edit, and otherwise do our family videos. Our wonderful co-host is none other than TheGoToMom herself Kimberley Clayton Blaine! Follow Kimberley @TheGoToMom for the chat. Check out Kimberley’s awesome ptch page! Read what Fast Company has to say about Ptch! But, it wouldn’t be #DadChat – of late – if we didn’t have some prizes – which, of course, you will have to earn! Read on about Ptch and our prizes for this week’s #DadChat!

We all want to preserve our best family memories? What do YOU use? A still camera, cell-phone, video-cam, tablet, or do you sketch in charcoal? Samsung is sponsoring this week’s #DadChat – just in time for Mother’s Day – on Thursday, May 9 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET, and giving away two amazing prizes! Our discussion, as always, will center around our community and this oh-so-relevant topic to everyone. How do we best preserve our memories? How do we share them? Which platforms do we use? What software? What do YOU want – feature-wise – in YOUR camera?
Yeah, it may sound corny to want to change the world, but we can. When we look at the problems in our world, they can seem too big, too overwhelming for any of us to affect. But, when you look at it ONE person at a time, then perhaps it isn’t so daunting! In Judaism, it’s called Tikkun Olam, which roughly means to Repair the World. Jews are asked to do this “one person at a time.” Our kids will be the arbiters of change. We must empower them, lead them, and model for them. That is what we’ll discuss with the inimitable Angela Maiers this Thursday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. Your homework is to read her recent column for the Huffington Post, When Students Say They Want to Change the World — Listen to Them!
We are so happy and honored to have Guy Kawasaki return to #DadChat. This time he’s going to talk about his new book, APE: How to Publish a Book – Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur. I will ask him several questions as a frustrated author of two books on how I/we can do it best. I will also ask GK questions about fatherhood and hockey. The former since he’s a father of four; the latter since he’s taken up ice hockey in his forties and I want to know WHY THE HECK he would do THAT!?
Our original topic has taken an instant backseat to the news. What happened in Boston – the Boston Bombings, The Boston Explosion, happened to ALL of us. Talking about this among ourselves and most importantly how to talk to our children is of utmost importance and immediacy. Join us this Thursday, April 18 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. with @CarrieWilkerson, returning again as our co-host as we discuss this important topic — for ourselves and for our children.
This Thursday, April 11, we will have an Anything Goes #DadChat. What does that mean? Simply, the topics we’ll cover can cover “Anything!” Of course, we always keep #DadChat no more risque than PG-13, but that still allows for discussion on most any topic that YOU want to chat about. #DadChat has evolved into an incredible 24/7 community and moved beyond only parent-centric topics, though that is still our emphasis. So, much as my friend @MackCollier does once-a-month at his #blogchat with “Open Mic,” we’re going to do the same this Thursday. Bring it! Seriously, share something where you want some advice or feedback? Share a great joke? A video?
Who doesn’t believe that Social Media is changing our lives? What parent isn’t struggling to keep up with their children when it comes to texting, using a smart-phone, and pretty much anything tech? How many parents just let this side of their children’s lives go on without much supervision? This topic is bigger than simply our kids since we all know how it’s affecting our lives as well. We have special co-host Jure Klepic to lead this discussion on Thursday, April 4 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. E.T.
