My Olympic Event: The Santa Monica Stairs – I’m NOT That Dad #30

Category: I'm Not that Dad

My Olympic event, the Santa Monica Stairs, is a favorite gathering place to exercise in Los Angeles. When I lived closer going there was a regular part of my working out as well as a cool place to meet people. We’d often see celebrities and athletes as well as regularly see mighty cute gals. I like that. Win Win. WorkOut, Sweat, and Stare!

I can’t wait to try it!! I’ll be there before you know it. Thanks for posting!

We will have a great day together – doing the stairs, coffee/lunch in Santa Monica, and more. Warning: EVEN for you it’s wise not to do too many the first time. When I haven’t done them in a while, I wake up 48 hours later with seriously sore legs!

Just trekked in Bolivia. Talk about sore legs–Hiking at altitude. . .and I’m a flatlander. Yikes!

        • Bruce Sallan

Altitude is VERY taxing! I know from skiing…

i’ve walked up and down these a few times in my days. can’t say that is one of the things I miss. definitely brings back memories.

I loved doing those stairs…would still do them if I lived closer…

music cracks me up…. looks a lot like the stairs up the Memphis bluff. My brother-in-law runs them and runs against kids which is crazy cause he’s in his 50s!

    • Bruce Sallan

TY for appreciating my music choices…so often I wonder if ANYONE notices!

Looking from the outside, the idea of people walking up and down steps for hours seems ridiculous, but I’m while you’re there you actually get a feeling of group-workout. I like it!

Plus fresh air, ocean air at that, and great “views!”

Looks like quite a workout, is there an escalator?

    • Bruce Sallan

       Yeah, your car!
