Category: #DadChat

It’s Winter Time and, for me, that means skiing! What does it mean for you and your family? Let’s share all our FAV Winter Sports this Thursday, January 24 at #DadChat from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. Canyons Resort is joining us (@TheCanyons – please follow) and they’re giving away THREE sets of 2 ski-lift passes (a $210 value. As usual, you will have to EARN this great giveaways! Good for the rest of this Winter Season at The Canyons. Enjoy this short video about Canyons Resort:

As most of you know, I’m an avid skier. I’ve skied all over the world and done three heli-ski trips, most recently last year when I wrote How to Ski Out of This World (watch the videos – they’re awesome). Now, we have a place at Park City and have just discovered Canyons Resort. It is truly an awesome resort – winter and summer. You’ll have the chance to ask them questions, but our chat will – as usual – be YOURS and we’ll share whatever Winter Sports stories YOU want to share!

These chairs are HEATED – amazing!

Check out my quickly done video, shot over the past two days, of my wife and me skiing at  Canyons Resort:

That’s me…NOT!

How about skipping that $5 Starbucks latte and splurging $2.99 (for the Kindle on Amazon) or $2.79 for the PDF of my new e-book? Enjoy my own informercial for it! This e-book is really a virtual journey. It’s filled with 100 photos, 7 original videos, and links to many of the stops on the trip. Click on the book cover image below to find your purchase options:

I can’t wait to try my first Twitter chat! And on one of my favorite topics – winter sports. Love Utah skiing, but never been to CanyonLands, only Snowbird. Thanks!

There are three resorts in the Park City area Carol – Deer Valley, Park City, and Canyons Resort. Each has its own charm but Canyons is the biggest and was recently purchased by a company quite interested in making Canyons Resort among the best in the country. In my opinion, it already is!

You’ll love it, Carol – be sure to read this “How to” column I wrote: http://www.brucesallan.com/2013/01/15/participate-dadchat-tweet-chat/

I went cross country skiing with my wife on Sunday. Have only done that a couple of times in my life:) Survived the tumble… Grew up downhill skiing with my Dad, who passed away last year. Have had fun blogging recently combining hockey and basketball stories!

@RalphH_VO:twitter – cross-country skiing always struck me as too much work! But, I get its cardio value, for sure!

i’m not a skier-  i really hate winter!  but did it once and it sure was a good workout  🙂

      How long ago was that?

  • http://daniel-dinnie.wozaonline.co.za/ Daniel Alexander Dinnie

We don’t really get winter in Durban.
We get strong summer and weak summer 😉
Today is a definite strong summer day: 34 degree Celsius.
Things don’t change much during winter here.
Maybe you go to the beach less, and wear longer pants now and again, but that’s about it for me.

There’s skiing in New Zealand, isn’t there Daniel?

      • http://daniel-dinnie.wozaonline.co.za/ Daniel Alexander Dinnie

Yes, there is skiing in New Zealand.
I live in South Africa though 😉
Durban to be specific, which is very much a coastal, tropical beach city.
We get a little snow in some of the colder parts of SA, but on average SA is a warmish country.
I think there is some skiing near Johannesburg, but I’m pretty sure it’s an artificial ski slope.

        • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

Why did I think you lived in Australia…dumb (of me). We honeymooned in Africa – will likely return Summer of 2014 – maybe we can meet?

          • http://daniel-dinnie.wozaonline.co.za/ Daniel Alexander Dinnie

            Don’t worry about that.
I went for coffee with a woman yesterday.
We had only chatted via mail previously.
She mistook me for a woman… (a much bigger assumption than yours).
She read my name on my book as Danielle, because often what I do is aimed at women…
It made for an interesting start to the conversation.
            “O, you’re not a woman…”
            Good times 🙂
Where in Africa did you honeymoon?
Where are you going to go in 2014?
If you come to South Africa (Africa is a pretty big place), I’d love to get together 🙂

          • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

We haven’t really made our Africa plans yet, but we know we want to do at least two safaris during migration – well, at least one during/in migration. It is VERY likely we will stop in SA and I would love to get together!

             Cool 🙂
Well let me know closer to the time.
