Repair the World ONE Person at a Time – I’m NOT That Dad #31

Category: I'm Not that Dad

I’ve been a mentor/friend to Daniel for several years. When I talk about “Repairing the World,” this is what I mean. You don’t have to cure cancer to make a difference. Become a Big Brother, a mentor, volunteer at an elderly care facility, visit the children’s ward at a hospital, the list is endless…but, DO IT!  You can repair the world one person at a time.

Daniel seems like a wonderful young man! I couldn’t agree with you more Bruce, “repair the world one person at a time!” I know for myself it can be hard to find time getting out and doing as much in the outside “world” as i have in the past. I have found I can still donate my time and resources online to a variety of things (including promoting fatherhood to other fathers) It’s all about being creative with your time as well as repairing the world. I know that many parents the feel “pinch” of time when they have young children. So, I like to use the time I do have to try and help others online as much as possible, using the skills I have learned as a social worker to help others find resources if they need it and give advice if they ask. I also upon occasion still volunteer some time here working with AA and it’s members.

Daniel is a JOY in my life. What most people don’t realize – and clearly YOU DO – is that you always get when you give!

You are most definitely right Bruce! I always like to believe the words of my granny, “Karma can be a serious bitch.” (forgive the cursing it does happen upon occasion…especially if you had known my granny)

You are more than welcome Bruce!

I find we are on the same page about a lot of things actually….now if I can just get some support from Elegant Theme that I am using for my wordpress so I can get my widgets back up on my site I need….maybe I might grow again a bit….sigh

So true! I’ve been renting a Zip Car to get me to my volunteer “job,” and I didn’t think twice about spending the $, because I loved the volunteering so much. Teaching kids about nutrition. So rewarding! Forget your own problems by thinking about someone else’s for a change!

Thanks Mindy and good for you!

I feel the same way Bruce. We change the world by being in it, we don’t have to end hunger to make a difference.

      Thx Susan…we obviously think alike!
