The Cure for the Empty Nest Blues

Dad and me have discovered the CURE for the #EmptyNest Blues/Syndrome! I just lived it and barely survived. No more empty nest blues here!

Do take advantage of VoogDesign’s special caricature offer in our ad section (scroll down a bit on the right)!

    He he.
I’m sure you don’t really feel like that…

Daniel, don’t forget that I’m NOT that dad! But, TRUST ME, I do feel that way…at least right after that loooonnngggg trip!

Ooooo, I didn’t realize you weren’t a dad. But everything on your blog says, “A dad’s point of view.” I’m confused?

        • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

Ha Ha! I am a dad – I’m just NOT that dad in the comic strip!

          • http://daniel-dinnie.wozaonline.co.za/ Daniel Alexander Dinnie

             Okay, right I’m with you.

Hey Bruce, That was my problem, my daughter is only 20 minutes away. It was really tough dropping her off at school on Sunday. But the good part is that she’s home with use this weekend!

    • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

I suppose you are “lucky” that she’s so close! LOL

I don’t know, that cross-country trip in your Flex sounded pretty sweet!

BTW, my younger daughter, who is a cross-country runner, got a bit confused about your trip. She asked, “He’s running across the country?” When I told her that you were driving in a Flex, she asked, “How is cross-country not running?” 🙂

        • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

That is funny, Carolyn. I will look back on this trip with 99% very fond memories. But, I doubt I’ll drive cross-country again. Thankfully, my next one – who plans on going to NYU – has NO interest in such a trip! Whew…

I hope you settle into “life as you know it” now that your son is off to school. Enjoyed following your trip via Instagram!

YOU are the pro at this sort of thing, Mimi…so far, so good!

LOL….The comic made me laugh Bruce…I am sure there is a little truth in that for many parents on a road trip like that. I know it’s a sad time and a time of transition but I can definitly see the blaring music and boredom that could happen….

Well, I don’t know about “Dad,” but my road-trip was both fun, tiring, crazy, anxious, and I was VERY HAPPY to arrive in Boston and happier to get back home! Thx Aaron…we aim for laughs! @VoogDesigns:twitter

Very funny strip. This is absolutely equivalent in what you’d find in the best family-type strips in the daily newspaper.  Great set-up and payoff.  Outstanding!

    • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

Thx so much, David…now, will you get a newspaper syndicate to buy it? Ugh, there seem to be no NEW comic strips at all! Just the same ol’ boring ones!

I dont think I will survive 🙁 makes me sad to even think about it

IF we do our job right, they should leave!

Love this one! My son is 13 but looks like I’ll have to put up with the “being bored everywhere” for a few more years by the sounds of it!

    • http://www.brucesallan.com Bruce Sallan

      Trust me, it’s NO FUN!

      • http://www.leanonus.co/ Sonya

I believe you! Tyler says “I’m booooooooored”! In that droney voice… Drives me crazy. So I give him a job to do and he soon realises that is worse than being “bored” LOL
