They say you come for the winter and stay for the summer. This is our first summer in Park City and we’re totally lovin’ it. I won’t say I prefer it to winter and skiing, but I’m LOVIN’ IT! So much to see and do. Check out my short video and see why for yourself!
The generations collide yet again as Dad gets down – way down – while attending The Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco with Son. Dad references Woodstock to which Son is lost. Heck, Son wishes he was really lost – away from Dad and “his moves!” Of course, everyone knows that I’m NOT That Dad, though I did happen to attend Outside Lands. What do golf and target shooting have in common? Not much. I simply had these videos handy. I’ll say – without a doubt – that golf is MUCH more difficult! Oh, that’s my wife golfing.
I went to the LIVE Bugs Bunny – Looney Tunes – show at The Hollywood Bowl a couple of weeks ago, It was absolutely FANTASTIC. I made an initial video that had short clips of the event – hardly visible images of the cartoons, along with the LIVE classical (public domain) music played by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. I also included fun stories that the conductor told. Within minutes of posting that video, I got that ubiquitous YouTube “warning” (threat) about using third party music without permission. I’ve been “warned” before and certain so-called “privileges” have been taken away – no trial, no appeal – just a fiat from the Gods of YouTube.
The Barenaked Ladies are celebrating 25 years of making music. We saw them at The Santa Barbara Bowl on June 22, 2013. It was a GREAT concert. NOTE TO YOUTUBE: This is just talk and NO copyrighted music, so please don’t hassle me! That “note” eludes to the reality that YT cracks down hard on any of us who post any unlicensed music. Personally, I don’t get it when it’s recording a “live” event, but I can’t risk having them shut me down. So, this clip is in the middle of the Barenaked Ladies performing “If I Had a Million Dollars” and is simply a comedy bit – a very funny one. I hope you enjoy it!
We spent a lovely day in Santa Barbara on May 23, 2013. My wife and her parents came up with me and my wife even appeared on my Radio Show in Segment 5. Then we had lunch and strolled along State Street where this video was taken with my iPhone.
This is yet another video from my book, The Empty-Nest Road Trip Blues: An Interactive Journal from A Dad’s Point-of-View. My son and I had just finished driving 3000 miles in eight days, from Los Angeles to Boston. Upon arriving at our hotel, we saw swarms of people with tattoos arriving, as we learned, for The Boston Tattoo Convention. My son quickly left me to meet up with friends and I decided to crash the tattoo convention. The experience proved incredibly eye-opening and I had such a good time with the people that I returned again that night. I turned out to be “the alien” among all present at the Boston Tattoo Convention plus I get a lesson in judgments – don’t make ’em! Enjoy all these tattoos and cool people.
I was asked by HuffPostLive to make a video comment for a segment they were preparing about the Morning After PIll and an activist judge’s ruling. This is what I said. I believe EVERY word in this short rant. I believe it’s ABSURD that a judge can legislate. I believe that a child THAT YOUNG should NOT have access to any sort of prescription meds. Kids need to be 16 to drive, 18 to smoke or enlist, and 21 to drink, but it’s OKAY that they can get birth control – after the fact , the morning after pill- at ANY AGE? C’mon, even you lefties have to see the craziness of this? Are we becoming like a totalitarian regime where The State parents OUR kids? This is yet another case of Political Correctness gone MAD!
