The Boss: Bruce Springsteen LIVE – I’m NOT That Dad #12

Category: I'm Not that Dad

I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen several times, most notably at The Sports Arena back in the day. The aroma in the arena that night was memorable, but more so was the FOUR hours of music. Everyone stood for the whole thing. I’ve never quite got that, but then it was sort of cool when I was younger.

The FIRST concert I took my boys to was also Bruce Springsteen. It was at Dodger Stadium and they were still quite young. It was billed to begin at 7:00 p.m., but he didn’t start until well after 8:30 p.m. Why? Heck if I know. The boys got tired, got headaches, and we ended up leaving about an hour or so into the concert.

THIS time, I took by now 18-year-old son – who is a rock ‘n’ roll star in his own mind now – along with his best friend. My son is in fact a very good musician and is starting college at The Berklee College of Music this fall. We still had over an hour’s wait and lousy seats. BUT, The Boss did NOT disappoint. It was an incredible show that lasted over three hours! Tom Morello joined Bruce for several songs, most notably The Ballad of Tom Joad, in which Morello did a masterful guitar solo, which you will hear and see in this vlog.

There is NO WAY to fully capture a concert on an iPhone when you’re as far away as we were, but I still think you’ll find this ten minutes to be a lotta fun. Bruce “live” is an unparalleled experience and to think he’s now 62 and still rocking out is just so darn cool!
