#Charity Comes to #DadChat Thursday – #MalalaFund

Nisha - Mahala - Charity

If there’s one thing we must teach our children, it is the value of caring for others – acts of service – charity and giving. We will discuss this subject Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m. PT/7:00 p.m. MT/9:00 p.m. ET. We have a special person to honor this week in Nisha Varghese who is the embodiment of giving and caring! Let’s support HER charity this week – The Malala Fund – here is her fundraising page. Let’s get “her” over the next milestone and top $5,000!

#DadChat Is Teaching Kids to Care #NoKidHungry

NoKidHungry_campaign_10june2

What is the #1 ingredient to happiness? Money? Success? Sex? NO! The single biggest ingredient to happiness is GRATITUDE. Most of our kids are living blessed lives yet most of our younger generation is more self-involved than ever. Tonight at #DadChat, August 28 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m.ET, we are going to TEACH OUR KIDS TO CARE (about something other than themselves) with special co-host Tim McDonald.

Repair the World One Person At a Time

When I began writing, my initial goal was to be a dad advocate as my own experiences motivated me in that direction. I still advocate on behalf of dads and all parents. But, as I ventured into the world of Social Media, I realized I had another goal of larger importance and that was to do my part to make the world a better place – to do my part to Repair the World, or Heal the World as Michael Jackson said!

#DadChat Supported @ShotAtLife

How do you nourish a spirit of giving in your kids?

If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Up to his nest again, I shall not live in vain.

– Emily Dickinson

#DadChat Supported Shot@Life

#DadChat – Thursday, May 31 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., PT – was about teaching our children the VALUE of paying it forward. We raised money for a terrific cause, Shot@Life, with THREE incredible prizes that we auctioned off during #DadChat. You can also donate on your own whatever amount you wish, as I’m sure you’ll want to support this very worthwhile, giving, and caring organization. This is what I mean by “Repair the World,” which I so often say. One of Shot At Life’s biggest boosters, Ted Rubin, was our co-host for this special #DadChat. Read the transcript!

Life Lessons: When You Give You Always Get

An important life lesson to learn is when you give you always get. Often, you get more than you ever expected.

A Story of Giving – THE UPDATE – Please Join In Our Effort!

As you may know, I’ve developed a relationship with the Pastor, his kids, his community, and their school in Ghana, Africa.  I’ve written about it in my A Story of Giving column, my “Africa Zebras” blog (with the great photos), and spoken of it on my Radio Show (August 12, 2010). They are wonderful young girls that we’ve sent books and more to. Soon, we’ll be sending some laptops (from The Wright Centre for Orthodontics).  Pastor Frank Bennin is father to some (biologically), and “Father” to all, spiritually.

I wanted to share with you a chat I had with Pastor Frank, via Facebook, about what we hope to accomplish together and create our own story of giving.  Please note their address if you want to send your own box of books, magazines, toys, stuffed animals, and more.
