Listening to the travails of two of our single women friends has motivated me to write this column and ask some questions, ponder some societal changes, and simply vent a bit.
The other night my wife and I went on a date night to a very nice restaurant. We had a very nice waitress who was attractive, friendly, and declared almost immediately that she wasn’t going to have any children. Huh? I then asked her if she had a boyfriend. She instantly and disdainfully said, “No way.”
I was jogging around our nearby lake when I saw two women walking. As I passed them, I recognized one as a former friend of mine. Our eyes met but she quickly averted them. I realized who it was by the time I was way past them. It brought back many memories of what I call The Dark Days of (My) Divorce.
There are SO MANY (dire) consequences of divorce. I could write a book. Hmmm, maybe I will. But, one of the hardest things for any single dad or mom is re-entering the dating scene. That will be our topic this Thursday July 3 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. Dave Taylor suggested this topic and is our special co-host this week!
Relationship Landmines is the topic for this week’s #DadChat on Thursday, December 3rd from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET when Jason Weberman and Dr. Jennifer Weberman guest host in my stead. Jennifer and Jason have been regulars members of the #DadChat community and will be sharing what they’ve learned from their successful 10 year relationship – including how to navigate the trigger spots such as money, sex, raising kids, and the rules of a fair fight.
