It’s Mother’s Day this Sunday. What are you doing for Mother’s Day? How about sharing your favorite Mom Moment with us at #DadChat this Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET. We have special guest Ali Smith, photographer and author of Momma Love joining us. And, you can win a personally autographed copy of her book for the mom in YOUR LIFE for this Mother’s Day.
Momma Love has again been included in The New York Times list of 8 best picks for Mother’s Day – Books to Share on Mother’s Day!
Ali Smith has lived many lives: as a ballet dancer, a musician with 9 albums to her name, and a professional photographer.
Her first book Laws of the Bandit Queens (Three Rivers Press) and has been called “this generation’s quintessential homage to strong, smart, groundbreaking women.”
Ali has been profiled on the Oxygen Network and in New York magazine, was once the “face” of Cosmopolitan Magazine, and has had her work featured and reviewed in numerous publications.
Ali has lectured at institutions including The International Center of Photography (ICP), New York University, and Alfred University, and her work has been exhibited internationally, including at ICP. A grant from the Puffin Foundation enabled Ali to complete a photo essay on incarcerated mothers and their children, which was published in a national magazine.
The thread throughout Ali’s work is a passionate interest in the quality of the lives of women. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.
Momma Love is her second book. The New York Times‘ Motherlode named it their #1 Mother’s Day Gift of 2013, and Gloria Steinem calls it a gift to moms.
Below are a few of Ali’s marvelous photographs. Get this book and a special gift card NOW to give to the mom in your life at #DadChat Thursday!
