Welcome to 2013 and Happy New Year. Our first #DadChat of the year took on the themes of my last two columns, New Year’s List: Seven Attitudes of Gratitude and Christmas and New Year’s: Best Time of the Year, 12 Reflections. We talked about GRATITUDE Thursday, January 3 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. It was quite inspiring as you can read in the transcript. Join us EVERY Thursday at the same time, same place, same hashtag!
How many people use Thanksgiving to reflect on their lives, to express gratitude for their blessings, and to reflect on those less fortunate? As a parent, this is one of those fabulous teaching moments for kids. Of course, prepare the great meal and invite friends and family, but perhaps there is greater good to be had? (Note: Enjoy last years Thanksgiving column, too)

This show is loosely based on this week’s “A Dad’s Point-of-View” column, How to Make a Difference: One Person at a Time. We discuss making a difference here.
When Steve Jobs died I was yet again reminded of the fragility of life. No matter how rich or famous a person is, the grim reaper does not care. While I won’t admit how close in age Jobs and I were, I will admit that I fully recognize that my life could end any moment, though I pray it doesn’t. There is still too much to do, see, and too much work left to do.
#DadChat – Thursday, May 31 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., PT – was about teaching our children the VALUE of paying it forward. We raised money for a terrific cause, Shot@Life, with THREE incredible prizes that we auctioned off during #DadChat. You can also donate on your own whatever amount you wish, as I’m sure you’ll want to support this very worthwhile, giving, and caring organization. This is what I mean by “Repair the World,” which I so often say. One of Shot At Life’s biggest boosters, Ted Rubin, was our co-host for this special #DadChat. Read the transcript!
#DadChat this Thursday, December 8 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., PST will tackle that most sensitive topic of all. No, we’re not discussing sex, but the second most difficult subject: MONEY – yes, money. What challenges do you face these holidays? Do your kids expect things? What are you teaching them about giving back? PLUS we have a couple great giveaways – see below. You’ll have to earn them, as always!
